Jesus' saving work
Lydia has been praying prayers recently that indicate she is "getting it," or at least understanding the terminology of the Gospel. Not quite sure she understands quite what it cost Jesus on the cross, though:
Last night while she was praying, she said "Thank you for the wonderful time you had saving us."
Not necessarily accurate, but it was cute. Maybe she was thinking of "the joy set before him." (Hebrews 12.2)

Cheerios
Lydia during breakfast yesterday:
"All my Cheerios are having a pillow fight. I'm trying to get them on my spoon but they're having a pillow fight."

Fires
The other day I was stoking our wood stove. Lydia said, "Does that door put the fire in jail?" Why yes, it does!

Making seasons bright
The kids really enjoy decorating for Christmas, which we did tonight. At one point Lydia was shaking a jingle bell and said, "I'm being jolly."
We always eat M&M's while decorating for Christmas. This year Kim got peanut butter M&Ms and Lydia said, "There is something chubby inside these M&M's."
Chubby indeed! A very true statement.
I was also explaining to the kids that the tree we set up at Christmas reminds us that Jesus died on a tree, called a cross. Lydia asked, "Did Jesus die on a Christmas tree?"

Football fans
Today Lydia showed more interest than usual in the football game on TV (it's about time she payed attention to the finest programming on television). She asked several times, "Why do those men keep falling on the ground?"
Talking turkey
While I'm carving turkey yesterday...
Lydia: What's inside that turkey?
Ava: Chicken.
During dinner, Lydia said: Gravy, gravy, gravy. Yum, yum, yum.
(It was delicious gravy!)

Lydia sayings
It's time for a few funny sayings from our little one:
"What is Jesus' nickname?"
"root beard" (her name for root beer. Very consistently puts a D at the end)
"I like to be jammied" (and she does...changes into pajamas and out several times per day. And 6 PM is the average time she has them on for the duration of the night. She's in pajamas more than half the day!)

Lydia loves Mr. Bean
Watched most of the opening ceremony last night, then went to bed. Loved Rowan Atkinson's part! Anyway, when we got up this morning we watched the rest of the ceremony. Lydia said, "Is Mr. Bean on this movie? Mr. Bean is so funny. He has a funny face." I think she has a good sense of comedy at the age of two.

Ava's list
The other morning I found Ava awake in bed, furiously writing. I asked her what she was writing, and she said it was a list of things she loved and hated. I didn't see the "love" list, but the "hate" one contained three items:
Doctors (because they give shots)
Hot sauce
Satan
You gotta love that list!
