Making seasons bright

The kids really enjoy decorating for Christmas, which we did tonight. At one point Lydia was shaking a jingle bell and said, "I'm being jolly."

We always eat M&M's while decorating for Christmas. This year Kim got peanut butter M&Ms and Lydia said, "There is something chubby inside these M&M's."
Chubby indeed! A very true statement.

I was also explaining to the kids that the tree we set up at Christmas reminds us that Jesus died on a tree, called a cross. Lydia asked, "Did Jesus die on a Christmas tree?"

Football fans

Today Lydia showed more interest than usual in the football game on TV (it's about time she payed attention to the finest programming on television). She asked several times, "Why do those men keep falling on the ground?"

Talking turkey

While I'm carving turkey yesterday...

Lydia: What's inside that turkey?

Ava: Chicken.

During dinner, Lydia said: Gravy, gravy, gravy. Yum, yum, yum.

(It was delicious gravy!)

Pioneer girls

Little House on the Prairie inspires this year's showing. And the Roseburg Valley Mall provided three full sacks of candy!

Lydia sayings

It's time for a few funny sayings from our little one:

"What is Jesus' nickname?"

"root beard" (her name for root beer. Very consistently puts a D at the end)

"I like to be jammied" (and she does...changes into pajamas and out several times per day. And 6 PM is the average time she has them on for the duration of the night. She's in pajamas more than half the day!)

New feature: band names

I'm excited to announce that, from time to time, I will be posting good band name ideas here. They might be rock bands, folk groups, or dulcimer trios.

So now, for our inaugural name:

The Undersized Latvians

This would be a good name for an accordion ensemble. Name idea came from commentators on the men's beach volleyball coverage during the Olympics.
